A Feature Film and an Unparalleled Multimodal Project
Under the River 一團苦草 is a feature film directed by Simon Wu, written by Simon Wu, Yiyang Mo, and produced by Wenli He. Starring Simon Wu, Diana Deng and Yuki Huang. Yvette Qin as the assistant director, Yuan Sui as the director of photography, Zongao Yue as the graffer, Rona Wen as the production designer, Lucas Lin as the sound director, Danfeng Zhang as the director of post production, and Chaoliang Liu as the music producer. Meanwhile, there is a multi-model exhibition project created by Simon Wu, Yiyang Mo and Rona Wen, supervised by Dr. Belle Ling, and Dr. Page Richards. And it was shown at GALA in Tai Kwun, Central, Hong Kong on May 2024, which was an experimental show that included screening, performance, and installations.

Synopsis
Fei prepares her debut feature, and casts Yu and Xing. Fei’s script unfolds in Republican Shanghai: Victor, a Sino-Russian man, is accused of killing his adoptive father. Captain Lin, hostile to foreigners, targets Victor and his sister Lyubov. Victor seeks Bai Mingke, a female lawyer sidelined in her era. Their present pressures echo the case. A subconscious jungle surfaces at the thresholds of sleep, orgasm, and death, translating fear and desire into shifting images.

Dive 下潛
Dive is a behind-the-scenes documentary that follows the production process of ‘Under the River’, from the pre-production to the shooting site, to the post-production, with the main actors, crew members and other creators present. In addition to witnessing the birth of an art film, the documentary also takes a reporter’s perspective to look at the current state of movie production for the first time, and truly presents the world outside the camera.
